What's the Word?

Have you ever heard the word "farsee" as a measurement? I had, but until today, I ASSumed it was spelled "F-a-r-s-e" and was named after whatever surveyor invented the term. Apparently, it's used back east. When someone tells you to go seven farsees, it means you walk AS FAR AS YOU CAN SEE seven times... >chuckle< ... Sometimes the answer is so obvious!
