Princess Bride Party

Last night, we hosted some friends and a few members of the cast of The Princess Bride in our backyard.  We had everything we needed...Homemade ink made of Cherry juice for Prince Humperdink to sign off on treachery...Cliffs of Insanity...Shrieking Eels (gummy worms)...Greenland, where all of the "unemployed" people could jump for joy on the trampoline...a pit of despair (which turned out to be the funniest place in the yard.)

THE INVITATION: Have fun with your family storming our castle! This event will feature the movie playing on a big screen. Pick a character from the film and come costumed (as you wish) prepared to recite your favorite lines. Bring your own seating (camp chair, blankets, or bean bags work best) and a "themed" treat to share (use your imaginations!). Cold bottled water will be provided -- we promise it will not be laced with iocane powder. Please RSVP especially if you plan on bringing the brute squad, 'cuz' you know this'll be funner than being UNEMPLOYED in Greenland!

Be advised that our very own Fire Swamp is an alcohol AND peanut free zone (no matter what Fezzik says) and that the movie will not begin until the sun goes down on our wuv, twoo wuv!

 Our party began with a little trivia and making your own Miracle Pill for that pivitol point in the movie when Valerie asks Max, "Do you think it'll work?" and Max answers, "It'll take a miracle."

Chrissee as The Man in Black: Drop your sword.

 Chrissee had to finish up her shift before joining us, but looked spectacular all in black.  Actually, everyone was really excited to see so many characters brought to life...even I got old for the part.  There really is nothing like screaming "Liar!" and chasing your husband around taunting him with "Humperdink."

Princess Buttercup was the miracle maker at this party.  Our own Miracle Max was wrestling the big screen and the sound system.

James gets the show on the road

So...do you remember when I mocked my hubby's grand scheme of watching movies in the backyard just like the drive in?!  I've eaten my crow -- and it's DELICIOUS!! I love having friends over.  I'm thinking of asking James to screen "Independance Day" for me next...won't you be my alien?
