Sometimes, when a daughter gets married, you gain a son. Sometimes, you gain a son AND his sports teams! When Pollyanna married Eric, Mom started keeping up on games to create a common denominator for conversation with this new family that lives far away. Brilliant, really. Mom's always been a sort of cheerleader without a team. For Christmas, the first thing she said when Gabriella chose her gift from the LesCarbeau family from under the tree was:
"I'll bet it's something OHIO STATE!"
Turned out, she was right!
The really cute thing about all of this is watching my mom get so excited over presents and winning scores of weekend games. She'll come upstairs talking sports plays like an expert commentator for Fox or CBS. She's even taught Samuel to cheer for the team... "Dooh Uck-I's!!" He'll shout and raise his arms with Grandmere as they stomp through the kitchen for the latest victory.
So, here's a "thank you" to that very special family currently living in the Lone Star state. May God bless you all everyday as Eric is deployed and Polly prepares for the world for baby. Alex, Emily, and Savannah... a big hug to you all. Good luck in all your adventures! oh, and
