Gabriella loves the dragon costume - an unexpected find for only $3.50 at the second-hand store. I decided NOT to sew this year, so finding a dragon only a few days after she asked for one when I wasn't looking was a total bonus.

Aunt Jamie came for a visit this year. She has such a pleasant smile. 
Just because I'm a ladybug, you think I'm a GIRL?! Samuel was so excited to be living a Bug's Life for the evening, he didn't mind the little old ladies calling him a "she."

Jason and his family joined us for the festivities. Good Times!Halloween 2009 was a production of its own, even without all of the massives amounts of sewing to do. Our family joined the BurchCreek7th ward family in a trunk-or-treat the night before. We painted faces, hung out at the fish pond, and even performed a little teddy bear surgery before dipping into some amazing chili. (One of which was so hot, Jason sweated his way through it.) Our pillowcases were full of candy and we danced the night away knowing there would be one more round on Saturday.
Usually, Halloween day is so COLD in Utah that you'd rather not trick or treat. This year, I actually went out in SHORT SLEEVES and no one needed any extra layers. It was fun to watch everyone knocking on doors. Samuel was especially excited about all of the doggies that came to the doors. Gabrie spent her time between houses throwing leaves and dancing like a dragon. Their favorite treat of the night was the baby pumpkins our neighbor Jodi grew all by herself. Way to go JODI!!
After all the walking, the girls gathered around the table for the annual candy exchange. Although there were no King-Sized Kandy Bars, the girls were very happy about their load. We are thinking about having a teen party next year for all the kids still ready to trick or treat who are turned away because of their size. You and I both know the teen set is putting more thought into their costumes than the toddlers are!

ReplyDeletei sewed - NOT for halloween this year. daelynn needed an 18th century costume for a school function and james needed a greek era costume for a literary character party with Metaphor.
