It's been a while and everyone has so much going on, it's not an easy task to find a moment to come on here and share the AWESOMENESS with you. Let's go from youngest to oldest:
SAMUEL: This little man would rather not be doing anything that he doesn't do perfectly the first time. I think it must be one of the downfalls of being the youngest in a family with such a diversity in ages (let's be serious, this little guy is comparing himself with young adults!) We've been focusing on reading by devoting 20 minutes every evening. He uses the stop watch on my cell phone. 2 months ago, he picked up "Where the Wild Things Are" by Sendack. It took him 23 minutes to read it. This weekend, he read it in ELEVEN.
GABRIELLA: Gabriella can sing "Ghostbusters" like a Rock Star when accompanied on drums by her Uncle Brian and bass by her Aunt Emily. She is also using her amazing memorization skills to remember how to count in Chinese and recite verses of poetry for her 2nd grade class.
DAELYNN: Made the varsity softball team as a *freshman*. This will be her 3rd year of playing softball, period. We haven't been a super-sporty family, but she is determined and thus it has come to fruition. Oh, and she is keeping a 3.9 GPA. (Don't even get me started about how she feels about that 1/10 of a percent.)
BETHANY: Turned 17. It's tough. She is working for a local burger & do-you-want-fries-with-that-shake joint that is, bonus, closed on the Sabbath. She loves it. She earned and/or fundraised every penny to go with her choir on a trip to Anaheim for a choir competition where they brought home 2 gold medals. (She sings alto.) And, she did all of this while recovering from an injury sustained over New Year's weekend that ended up in surgery, a 5" scar, the wearing of a boot for 2 months...and a staph infection.
CHRISSEE: This one has written more words than I care to mention. As an English major, I find it unbelievable that the History & Anthropology departments require heavier research and more writing than we do. But, that has nothing to do with the fact that Chrissee had her first research paper accepted to a Conference, where she presented (this weekend), and won 2nd place in the undergraduate historian category. Her department was so excited, they immediately announced she will receive a full-tuition waiver scholarship for the entirety of her senior year.
Ta-dah!! Now, if only I could catch up on the laundry this quickly. Love you all!!
