This week, we made the mad dash from school to school to make sure the older ones are registered, scheduled, and ready to embark on the next great adventure.
Bethany's friends are finally all back from summertime mandates and they have spent every morning for the past five days hiking the local hills, singing in the choir, and generally enjoying each other's company. I can't say that they've finished that Finance course they hoped to complete before the school year begins so they can avoid taking it then, but, se la vie.
Daelynn dropped her phone in a toilet -- not really, I think her story had something to do with sprinklers coming in her second story window...whatever. It died! So, she has been incommunicado with her friends. This was a true hardship. They were beginning to believe she hated them and got new friends. James helped her find and purchase a new/used phone online through ebay. It was quite a process. James shared all of his technological trivia and Daelynn patiently waded through it until they found something that fit her little saved up budget.
Gabriella and Samuel have been hating on their new daycare situation. Not to worry though, they have the two BEST teachers in the whole elementary school! (Thank goodness.) I really am very glad. Samuel lost another tooth. He twisted it right out while he was in daycare when, I'm told, a full discussion on the nonexistence of the tooth fairy occurred (followed by santa clause, the easter bunny, and the sandman...take that childhood "magic"!!) Our daycare provider was surprised and delighted to know she isn't the only parent in the world unwilling to "lie to my children."
Chrissee is almost ready to begin her Junior year of college. She learned this week that she may no longer be eligible for work study because of all of her scholarships. Seriously? The girl LOVES working for the department she's in AND she was hoping to save up for her study abroad dream to the United Kingdom to see Stonehenge (among other historically and anthropologically interesting things). I guess financial aid has all sorts of new, strict rules. Keep your fingers crossed! She really wants both the job AND the study abroad.
James is coming along with his training. It isn't as fast as he would like, but the other Estimator has been out sick or on vacation for almost half of the time he's been working for this company. He's had a lot of opportunities to meet and speak with other employees and he's really impressed with the longevity and fairness of the company with its worker bees.
Me? Well, I just keep spinning...
