A Day in the Life

5:45 am: Mom wakes up before the alarm.  (Don't ask us why she does this -- it just is!)
6:00 am: Finishing touches on makeup, decide what's for breakfast.  Eat Honey Nut Toasted O's with sliced banana.
6:15 am: Bethany wakes up too.  Ta-DAH!
6:28 am: Pick out which leftovers are for lunch.  (Stroganoff, yum!)
6:35 am: Brush those teeth and skiddadle out the door. (Can't actually leave without water, lunch, that paperwork the employer needed, and digging through James pants from the night before for the keys.)
6:52 am: Walk out the door.  (Bethany locks it.)
7:23 am: Greet Richard (the Parking Garage guy) and get the office newspapers.
7:25 am: Turn on the lights and refill the water bottle.
7:30 am: Check and forward messages.
7:35 am: Distribute supplies/stock office shelves.
7:42 am: Gmail notes home about AWsomeNEss(You know, directions for dinner and lists of things to do while I'm not there to do them.)
8:30 am: Transcribe a deposition.  (Sadness.  I don't know how lawyers remain emotionally disengaged from their clients.)
10:30 am: Start menstruation.  (OMG! Is that TODAY?!?)
10:35 am: Hunt down pain medication.
10:42 am: Down two Pamprin -- laugh about being a "girl" -- do yoga asanas in the bathroom AND the break room to ease the pain.
11:01 am: Print labels and create hard case files.
11:13 am: Scan, copy, and mail out the same documents (because triplicate is now in several forms and doesn't use the carbon you get on your fingers.)
11:22 am: Phone call from hubby who can't believe the total injustice of the unemployment system.
11:36 am: Attempt to log in to KSL to post an item for sale by The Firm.
12:15 pm: Contact KSL's customer service to find out why they aren't letting me in.
12:30 pm:  Heat up that stroganoff, refill the water bottle, and walk to the Galavin Center for sunshine, artwork, and live music in the shade.  (Ahh...refreshing.)
1:30 pm: Plug in the postal meter and refill (cuz $1000 worth of stamps takes a long time to load.)
1:36 pm: Add a paragraph to that book I'm writing.
2:08 pm: Check with KSL again. (ugh)
2:10 pm: Can't log on to post, but found a FANTASTIC deal on a) a flute for Chrissee, b) beginner's percussion kit for Daelynn, c) a bathtub to replace the one upstairs, and d) three part time teaching jobs for James.
3:00 pm: Leave for a quick break. (Eat a tablespoonful of crunchy peanut butter which, thankfully, eases the cravings for fat and sugar.)
3:15 pm: Announce to The Firm that postage is restored (there was Hooplah!)
3:18 pm: Chatting with five people on gmail because there is nothing else to do.
3:43 pm: SUCCESS!! KSL has finally recognized my identity and allowed me to post. (The truest form of validation in the world.)
4:02 pm: Serious twiddling of thumbs (wishing for a yarn and crochet hook.)
4:11 pm: Saved by an overworked associate who needs me to make several phone calls (I'm certain this will keep me busy until 5pm)
4:29 pm: Report that all of the experts have been contacted and forward their information via email. (Eighteen minutes.  Do I have to be so damned efficient?)
4:58 pm: Tell my family members who are chatting online with me that I am on my way!
5:07 pm: Hit traffic. (Douse myself in sunscreen.)
6:10 pm: Open the door and surprise Gabriella half to death (she giggles when she's scared.)
6:18 pm: Have a family dinner minus Samuel (who doesn't want rice), James (who is playing on the computer), Bethany (who is practising with the Color Guard), and Chrissee (who is at work instead of band -- making her Band Director crazy)
6:28 pm: Pack everyone into the car (shoeless) to drop Daelynn off at Young Women.
6:35 pm: Bring the garbage cans in from the road with Samuel.
6:50 pm: Take out the garbage.
6:54 pm: Put away the clean dishes.
7:08 pm: Sweep and mop the flooring from the upstairs hall, through the kitchen, and dining room.
7:39 pm: Pull out fabric to donate to the Marching Band for Shejerizade's 40ft. tent. (200 yards of fabric needed?  This is barely going to make a dent even though it's a good 25 yards.)
8:05 pm: Visit with the Relief Society President.
8:22 pm: Push Samuel on the swings.
8:29 pm: Pick a handful of rasberries for RS Pres.
8:31 pm: Pick up smashed water bottles left over from Princess Bride Party.  (Seriously?!)
8:39 pm: Wrestle the fabric into the back seat of the Tangerine Dream and drive to pick up Chrissee from work.
8:49 pm: Stop at Band Mom's house to drop off fabric.
9:00 pm: Attempt to pick up Bethany from Band. ("Wait" around for almost twenty minutes attempting to get teenagers to pay attention to the parental being saying, "It's time to go!")
9:23 pm: Have a "conversation" in the car about respecting people's time.  (Fired up by the fact that James had to leave for a sleep study by 9:15pm.)
9:27 pm: Drop off carpool friend. (Nope, it turns out your friend's mom isn't perfect and sometimes gets frustrated too.)
9:33 pm: Walk in the door to, "Mom, you forgot to make me a quesadilla!"
9:35 pm:  Answer the phone while making the quesadilla.  James forgot to pull out the insurance card.
9:37 pm: After giving bedtime instructions, drive to Ogden Regional with the insurance card.
9:46 pm: Get lost (as in "Maternity Ward") and ask directions.
9:50 pm: Find the hubby.  Give him the card.  Kiss him good night.
10:01 pm: Home again, home again jiggity, jig!  (Except, there is no jig.  Samuel and Gabriella have already fallen asleep without kisses or bedtime stories or prayers or lullabies and I know I won't see them until tomorrow at 6pm.)
10:05 pm:  Warm up Samuel's leftover quesadilla.
10:07 pm:  Hug the older girls goodnight as they set up the front room to watch "Better Off Dead" (I want my two dollars!!)
10:10 pm: Decide to document my crazy life.
11:07 pm: All done.  Time to brush these teeth and go to bed.

Good night world!
